How can I meet people before my Erasmus or exchange semester?
You can meet people before your exchange semester by connecting with other students who are heading to the same city. Exchange Connect lets you set your destination and discover fellow exchange and Erasmus students going to, or already living in, that city — so you arrive with a network instead of starting from zero. You save the people you'd like to meet, and when the interest is mutual you can swap contact details.
Is there an app to find friends in my exchange or study-abroad city?
Yes. Exchange Connect is a free app for iPhone and Android built specifically to help exchange, Erasmus, and study-abroad students find friends in their destination city. You browse other students tied to that city, save the ones you'd like to meet, and connect once you've both shown interest.
How does Exchange Connect work?
Set your destination city and semester, then discover other students linked to that city. Save anyone you'd like to meet; if they save you back, that's a match and your contact handles (like Instagram or TikTok) are revealed to each other. There is also an open Board where students post what they're looking for or offering — housing, items, questions, events and more.
Is Exchange Connect free?
Yes, Exchange Connect is free to download and use on both iPhone and Android. There is no payment system in the app.
Is Exchange Connect a dating app?
No. Exchange Connect is not a dating app. It's about friendships, community, and the practical side of moving abroad — finding people to meet, housing, and tips for your exchange city.
How do I find housing, sell things, or ask questions as an exchange student?
Use the Board inside Exchange Connect. Students post under "looking for" or "offering" across categories like housing, items, clothes, questions, events, activities and services — so you can find a room, pass on furniture before you leave, or ask locals and fellow students anything about your destination.
Which cities and countries does Exchange Connect support?
Exchange Connect supports destinations worldwide. You pick your exchange city from a global list and are matched with students tied to that same city, wherever in the world you're studying.
Is it safe and how is my privacy protected?
Exchange Connect is for users 18 and older and includes photo moderation plus block and report tools. Your contact details stay private — Instagram or TikTok handles are only revealed after a mutual match, never before — so you control who can reach you.
What platforms is Exchange Connect available on?
Exchange Connect is available on iPhone (iOS) and Android. It's currently in pre-registration ahead of launch — join the waitlist to be notified when it goes live.
